Monday Musings: Life Through Different Eyes (A Poem)

Once upon a time,

I saw a dwarf drinking lime,

I asked him what he thinks life is?

He said it is short and tricky, indeed.

Once upon another time,

I saw a fairy flying across the sky,

I asked her about life, what she would say?

She said it is high, high, so very high.

Once upon a third time,

I saw a witch brewing sleep potion,

I asked if she has anything to say about life,

She said it is peaceful only when you close your eyes.

I thought about it for a while,

I asked myself if any of this is true,

My thoughts about life are the same as yours,

It’s tricky, it’s high, and it’s peaceful when you close your eyes,

But from the little, I know of life,

It’s different for everyone because each has a different sight.

Monday Musings: Song of Joy (A Poem)

There is a light that I see in the dark,

And a smile that I’ve loved from the start,

The mystery that is hidden in your eyes,

And the feeling that comes when your very soul cries.

How much we really know about our existence?

When you take a step back and look from a distance,

A few simple things can amount to everything,

The way someone’s laughter can make your heart sing.

The love you have shown me over the years,

To the unknown paths, sometimes life steers,

It may look far away, but happiness is actually within our grasp,

If we are brave enough to fulfill life’s task.

To me, it’s your smiling eyes that bring bliss,

When you’re sad, my heart also cries,

Making you happy is my only purpose,

Never assume that no one cares because someone does.

I want to say this now, I love you!

Let it be a reminder that my feelings have always been true,

Your very essence is something that keeps me going,

My words resonate with the truth they’re portraying.

I recently came across a quote by Martin Luther King Jr., “I have decided to stick to love…Hate is too great a burden to bear.” And I think it is a beautiful sentiment. Love is the only important emotion that we should pay attention to. It’s better to just forget hate and forget everything that you might hate. I truly believe that this should be our motto in life.

It won’t be easy, no point in pretending that it would be. But slowly we can do this only if we keep trying. Sometimes when I’m thinking about what to post next and I come up with a topic where I discuss my dislikes and hates, I pause. I think twice and then ask myself, ‘do I really want to talk about something I despise?’ and ‘should I?’ More often then not, my answer to both these questions is a NO.

My philosophy is; why talk about things that don’t bring us joy? It feels counterproductive. Don’t you think? Anyhow, I do love to talk about things I like and appreciate in life. Bringing positivity to the forefront is always a good idea.

So, on the positive note, I wish you all a fabulous February. I hope this year and all the coming years bring us joy & happiness!

Monday Musings: Sisterhood (A Poem)

Somewhere under the piles of discrimination and self-hate,

In the darkest corners of their souls and minds,

Something important got buried away, forgotten…

To be rediscovered only when the sisters are ready to love themselves.

Every part of their being must be accepted as it is if they’re to take on this quest.

The ruthless world will stand in their way but all they need is to trust each other,

Having confidence in their strength is incredible and they’re a force to be reckoned.

Only if they can learn to stand together, support one another,

Only if they try to look beyond the self-doubt and misconceptions…

Darkness will recede and the sisters will achieve all that they deserve.

Monday Musings: The Moon Knows Your Secret (A Poem)

There is a secret within your soul,

Which only the moon knows.

The moon has something to tell you,

A story you might not be ready to hear.

Something about love, life, and happiness,

It wants to show you the truth behind the lie.

Before life ends and hope dies,

You’ve to find your peace and learn what’s right.

Things that are obvious and those obscured,

You must know them all and find an answer.

To the question, you couldn’t even ask,

But it’s important, and the moon knows.

There are things in this world,

Only the moon has witnessed.

There is a story within your story,

Only the moon can tell but are you ready to listen?

Sometimes even when we are not looking for the answers, we find them. And sometimes, no matter how hard we try, we can’t find what we truly want. And this is what we call life. It’s unfair, it’s unpredictable, and it has a tendency of leaving us astray. But not fear because at the end of the day, even when you don’t find what you want, you will still be able to find everything that you need.

The key, I have discovered, is to focus on the good and forget about the rest. It might not be easy but keep trying until you get the hang of it. I have learned this little trick from my mother. You can’t escape problems. That will never happen and no one, absolutely no one lives a problem-free life. The only thing in your control is how you react and how you deal with the set of problems that life throws at you.

These days I am learning to live with someone who has bipolar disorder. I am reading a lot about mental health and it is very scary. Still, I think that it is important to be supportive because mental health issues need just as much attention as physical health. And you can’t cut people out of your life simply because they are not healthy mentally or physically. You have to be there for them. Keep loving them and hoping that they will get better soon.

So, guys, do take care of yourself and your loved ones. Don’t ignore little problems and get professional help whenever possible. There is no shame in being sick. It is not because of your negative thinking. It is not something you can control. So, stop feeling guilty. Stop feeling ashamed. And get help. Stay healthy and stay blessed.

Happy December!

Monday Musings: Words That Rhyme (A Poem)

I don’t know the rules,

If it feels right, that’s the clue,

I write from the heart,

I don’t care how these things start.

All I need to do is pick up a pen,

And the words flow unbidden,

Regardless of time or season,

With or without rhyme or reason.

Often, I write about things that matter,

Sometimes my words are a scatter,

Either way, it’s a fun activity,

Bringing to the forefront, your creativity.

I don’t always write for fun,

Somethings are needed to be done,

Write or not to write?

A question that’s a bit of a fright.

Ultimately, it depends on my muse,

Without him, my pen is of no use,

He appears in various forms,

Falling leaves, rainbows, and even in storms.

Writing gives me purpose,

That’s how I tame, my mind’s circus,

Something to smile about when all is dark,

To stoke anew your inner spark.

They say to do what makes you, you,

It’s writing about all that’s true,

I write to let my emotions flow like a river,

From the tip of my pen unto the paper.

Monday Musings: My Lost Dream

Underneath the wreckage of anxiety and panic attacks,

My dream is buried,

Somewhere deep down in those shacks.

It’s a dream I had when I was a little boy, bigger than myself,

Life had seemed easy,

And I had hoped to achieve it without help.

Only when I grew up did I realize how wrong it was, my life’s impression,

I began with a dream but soon,

All I was left with was my depression.

I was alone with no hope of ever finding a way out of this wreck,

I wasn’t weak,

I did fight it for as long as I could, heck!

But the beast that’s depression is nothing to joke about,

It’s vicious and it’s cruel,

It won’t let you go no matter how much you shout.

It’ll suck the very life out of you and it doesn’t know how to rest,

Soon, I was tired to my bones,

I had done my best.

Now, I’m ready to give up on my dream and my life,

Because what’s the point of having a dream…

That can’t even survive.

I know this piece is sad and a little darker than most of my works. But it needed to be shared. Initially, I had planned to make it more hopeful in the end. Unfortunately, my muse decided that it has to be this way.

A dream that is lost forever, thanks to the beast they call depression.

How many of us have fought and lost to this monster? But so many have survived too. So, even if the person in this poem never found his hope, it doesn’t mean that you can’t either.

Keep fighting and never give up.

One thing I’ve learned from my own experience is that you should never be afraid of asking for help. That’s the key to dealing with depression. Most of the time, people around you will not notice the subtle changes in your behavior and actions but you can explicitly ask for help. If you don’t or can’t trust people around you then seek out professional help. Don’t fight it alone.

Be happy and stay safe!

Monday Musings: Girl, You’re Perfect

Girl, you’re the boss of your destiny,

In your own way, you’re perfect.

Regardless of what anyone else may believe,

Let your inner-self shine, without fear.

Because there is nothing you can’t do,

Only if you’re willing to let go of all your doubts.

Smart, beautiful girl, you’re everything you need,

So, don’t let others make you feel less than who you’re.

This poem is a message for all the amazing and beautiful girls in the world who are drowning in self-doubt. Don’t! Just don’t do that. You’re capable, you’re lovable, you’re gorgeous, you have got what it takes to survive in this world. It doesn’t matter you you are or where you live, you can achieve anything you put your mind to.

We all struggle in life. I don’t believe that anyone’s life is perfect regardless of their gender or social status or any other demographic distinction. We all got problems but the key is to focus on the solutions. To stay positive no matter what and most importantly to love yourself.

I’ve watched some amazing women struggle unnecessarily, simply because they refuse to love themselves. Don’t be like that. As I often say, and can’t stress enough, there will always be people who won’t love you but make sure that you are not one of those people.

So, yeah, that’s my message for today. I hope you like my poetry. Don’t forget to share your thoughts. I love to hear from my followers as well as random visitors. I love you all!

Monday Musings: Try Harder (A Poem)

You’ll reach your destination if you try harder,

You can do whatever you put your mind to,

You can be anything you like, just be smarter.

Things in life have a tendency of falling apart,

It’s okay, you’re resilient and able to take it,

If at first, it doesn’t work, begin from the start.

Everything can be replaced, a lot can be renewed,

Don’t be stuck, take a step forward and let past go,

Or take a step back, there’s much to be reviewed.

Don’t be too hasty, don’t you dare give up on your dreams,

Things do get wrong but you can give it another shot,

Keep going, keep hoping, no matter how tough it seems.

Sooner or later, you’re going to reach the finish line,

Huffing and puffing, you must keep going forward,

Crawl if you must, if you can’t run that’s fine.

Life isn’t always easy, it can be messy and sad,

Try harder, be smarter, keep going and don’t give up,

The key is to not lose hope even if things look bad.

Monday Musings: For Love (A Poem)

Oh, the things we do for love,

And the dreams that can never be.

Oh, the lies we tell ourselves,

And the nights we cry until falling asleep.

If love is so painful is it even worth it?

Then, if not love what else there is to live for?

Shackled by the bonds of our love,

None of us can ever be truly free.

It’s something we crave and welcome,

Even if it breaks our heat in the end,

Love is something we’ll always want to feel.

For love, we’ll do despicable things,

And then will tell ourselves that,

All is fair in love and war.

We claim that the love we seek has higher purpose,

Telling ourselves that we accept wrong to be right.

Oh, the things we do for our love,

And the lies we tell ourselves!

Monday Musings: A Castle That Sleeps

I live in a castle that’s fast asleep,

The world hears its walls as they weep.

Everything here is stilted,

Every breath you take is tainted.

Sadness and despair walk unbidden,

Smiles and laughter are here forbidden.

I stroll through the halls so grand,

Time slipping through my hands like sand.

A place so majestic to behold,

A story so eloquent when it is told.

But all is not what it seems,

There is a creature living in the beams.

Soon, it will wake up and open its eyes,

The whole world will see when it flies.

It sleeps with the castle, unafraid and free,

It knows all that mortals can never see.

Sleeping castle slumbered in its own time loop,

There but not there, hiding behind a souls’ troop.

If you walk by, don’t stop and don’t come near,

It’s majestic but it’s also something you should fear.

It’s a home, my love, I live in this castle that sleeps,

Along with its walls, my heart also weeps.
